The Northern Quarter, Dublin
26 July 2007
the biggest open street development that Ireland has ever seen
The Northern Quarter promises to be the most momentus single step forward, transforming the fabric of Dublin City from a retail and commercial centre into a living, breathing, modern European capital.
Dublin has developed a reputation as a thriving European destination. With its unique mix of cultural treats and vibrant social scene, Dublin is one of the most captivating and diverse cities in the world.
Established in 1843, Arnotts is Ireland’s older department store with over 320,000ft2, or 29,000m2 of selling space, it is Ireland’s
largest + UK top five alongside Harrods and Selfridges.
Set on five acres in the heart of Dublin City centre, the Northern Quarter is the biggest open street development that Ireland has ever seen. The Northern Quarter is a mixed use urban
development located right in the centre of Dublin’s prime shopping district. The Northern Quarter will be located between two of Dublin’s main shopping streets – O’Connell Street and
Henry Street respectively. These are Europe’s highest performers rivalling Oxford Street and the Champs Elysees in terms of footfall, clocking up an impressive average hourly footfall level of 15,000 while surpassing most European destinations in terms of sales conversion.
Spread over 1,585,384ft2 or 147,287m2, this urban development will provide retail space totalling 272,315ft2 together with a new
Arnotts department store of 26,941m2 or 290,000ft2 with contemporary urban apartments, state of the art offices, stylish eateries and wine bars, hotel with luxury spa and a revamped
Arnotts department store.
Its rich combination of uses, coupled with its prime retail location providing flexible accommodation in keeping with modern international retailer requirements, will ensure the development stands out at both a national and international level as the premier scheme for Ireland.
King Sturge, working with HOK Savills, has advised Arnotts on the selection of a Development Partner whilst providing
development consultancy and leasing advice.
