Crowds flock to shop at Eden, High Wycombe
19 March 2008
King Sturge has been involved with the scheme since its conception
Eden, High Wycombe opened last Thursday, March 13th, with tumultuous crowds being entertained by street bands and samba dancers. Rock bands played in HMV’s store and footfall and shopper spending was phenomenal.
The centre is 98% let with only 7 units remaining available. The scheme is anchored by a 141,000ft² House of Fraser who spent £25 million on their store fit out; other anchors are 104,000 ft² M&S, 12 screen Cineworld, 22 lane AMF bowling. Restaurants include Wagamama, Yo!Sushi, Zizzi and Frankie & Bennys.
The scheme has redefined retail in the UK's second most affluent catchment area. The high quality line up includes Zara, Gap, LK Bennett, Office, Top Shop, H&M, Apple, River Island, Jones and La Senza and will attract an affluent shopper population who currently shop elsewhere in the region. CACI estimate that the town will now rise to 45 in the UK retail destination hierarchy, ahead of places such as Bath, Bournemouth, Solihull and Canterbury. The existing Octagon centre has had a £12 million refurbishment and provides a seamless extension to Eden with BhS, Boots, Goldsmiths, Body Shop and Clarks amongst the line up.
King Sturge has been involved with the scheme since its conception providing leasing, development, investment and professional advice. The joint venture between Multiplex & Aldersgate is delighted with the letting progress and the publicity surrounding the scheme opening has been outstanding. First trading reports from retailers in Eden are fantastic and way over budget.
