Almost 2,973 m² (32,000 ft²) of Grade A office accommodation is under construction and will be released to the Lancashire market early in the summer.

Eleven self contained units ranging from 181 m² - 1,114 m² (950 ft² - 12,200 ft²) are being marketed for sale or to let at Hattersley Court, part of the wider mixed use Hattersley Centre scheme, close to Ormskirk town centre.

News of the office scheme follows prelets to Jewsons, Plumbase and Howdens Joinery on the adjacent trade counter element of the development. Retailers, Focus and Halfords have also signed up for new stores at the site owned by Pendle Bracken - a joint venture between Barnfield and Bracken Developments.

National builders merchant, Jewson has taken a new 1,394 m² (15,000 ft²) unit which is due to complete in spring and Howdens has exchanged contracts on a 743 m² (8,000 ft²) building. Plumbase, which is fitting out a 325 m² (3,500 ft²) store, will be the first to operate from the trade counter element of Hattersley Centre. Halfords, which opened in March, has taken a 15 year lease on a 557 m² (6,000 ft²) facility while Focus is already trading from a 2,787 m² (30,000 ft²) store at the site located on Burscough Road.

Speaking of the deals, Daniel Burn of King Sturge said: “There are few developments of this calibre in Lancashire and the fact that it is a prominent mixed use scheme appears to be attracting a lot of interest from national retail and trade counter operators as well as locally based office occupiers. Aside from the office accommodation, there is just one retail unit of 511 m² (5,500 ft²) left and four buildings of 232 m² - 697 m² (2,500 ft² - 7,500 ft²) suitable for trade counter requirements. Given the high profile names that we have managed to attract onto the scheme, we are hopeful of securing further deals before the development completes in the summer.”
