King Sturge 28th in Sunday Times Best Companies to work for Awards

10 March 2008

To be the second largest company within the Top 30 firms is a measure of our success at making the firm a great place to work

King Sturge has come in at number 28 in the Sunday Times Best Companies to work for – 2008.

This is the fifth year in a row we have entered and to have stayed in the top 30 is a fantastic achievement.

Each year the number of entrants increases, meaning more competition. This year 868 companies entered and over 180,000 employee opinions have been considered resulting in the evaluation of each organisation’s key statistics, processes and policies.  Questionnaires are sent to a random selection of employees from across each company, in which they are asked to judge their company’s leadership, teamwork, work/life balance, pay and benefits, training and career development and social responsibility.

King Sturge scored a positive 85% score as a place that employees would recommend as an employer.  A 79% positive score from employees who feel that their senior managers truly live the company values, a positive score of 72% in employees believing that their senior managers show appreciation and a score of 77% in senior managers talking to employees openly and honestly.  A score of 82% was achieved for employee confidence in managers’ leadership skills.

One of the firm’s core values is fellowship.  Senior managers regularly take part in social activities, with employees saying they feel a strong sense of family (74%), are fully involved at work (76%) and that their teams are fun to work with (80%).

Employees say that King Sturge boosts their personal growth (79%).  They believe the experience they gain is invaluable (78%) and their jobs are secure (80%).

Richard Batten, Joint Senior Partner at King Sturge, who attended this year’s gala dinner, held at the Evolution Centre in Battersea Park, commenting on this result, said:

"Given the size of the company now and its geographical spread, this result is an excellent achievement from across the business, showing that we have managed to maintain the feel of a smaller firm and is testament to our strong culture and ethos. To be the 2nd largest company within the Top 30 firms is a measure of our success at making the firm a great place to work."

“Our business is totally based on the people in our offices; this independent survey helps to give us a greater understanding of the needs and wants of staff at all levels.”

“Changes have resulted in the past and we will be looking at the results closely to see how we can further improve in the future.”
