Jacks Bar & Brasserie is the first leisure facility to open in the Port Marine development

Good food is on the menu in Portishead thanks to King Sturge which has let the first leisure facility in the town’s Port Marine development.

New restaurant Jacks has opened on the town’s quayside and is set to be the first of many new facilities for residents.

“It’s now more than a decade since plans were first drawn up to bulldoze Portishead’s old power stations and create new homes on the waterfront,” said James Woodard, Senior Associate at King Sturge in Bristol.

“But despite the residential population arriving some time ago, the only new facilities have come from the Waitrose.

“Now the development is suitably established, it is fantastic to be able to welcome Jacks, who clearly understand the town and the opportunity this represents.”

He added: “This will be the start of many more new amenities for residents, not just in Port Marine but for the whole town to enjoy. This can only be good for Portishead.”

Another deal will see the company which owns Bar Chocolat in Clifton Village branch out into Port Marine under the name “Meme” in September.

Neil Lodge, manager of Jacks, said he and his team were “overwhelmed” by the amount of support offered by Portishead residents for the new venture.
