PPG lands more space at Walker Park, Blackburn

Construction of two speculative warehouses now completed at Point Five on Walker Park

Developer PPG Land has completed the construction of two speculative warehouses at Point Five on Walker Park in Blackburn.

Already, the 2,787 m² (30,000 ft²) building is under offer with significant interest in the smaller 2,323 m² (25,000 ft²) unit being reported at the four hectare (10 acre) site off junction 5 of the M65.

Confidence in the Park is such that PPG Land plans to start work on a new 11,148 m² (120,000 ft²) high bay warehouse on the adjacent land imminently. The new building will be available on a leasehold or freehold basis and is in sharp contrast to the current gloomy outlook for the commercial property market.

“Land in this area of the region is in short supply so it’s no surprise we are receiving such high levels of interest”, said Daniel Burn of King Sturge, joint agent on the scheme with Taylor Weaver. “Despite market conditions, some developers are still willing to speculatively build the right product in the right place. The location of the buildings at Point Five is a good example of this as they are ideal for the local market or those organisations looking for new regional head quarters serving the north of England.”
