1,503 m² industrial/warehouse unit at the Business Park in Salford
Food and facilities management company, Sodexo, has signed a seven year lease on a 1,503 m² (16,175 ft²) industrial/warehouse unit at Metroplex Business Park on Broadway, Salford, which is owned by the Co-Operative Insurance Society and managed by Axa REIM UK.
The company, which will move into the unit in July, is in the process of fitting out the building with a mezzanine floor to extend the existing office accommodation to two floors within the warehouse, in order to support its back office operations. The warehouse will comprise approximately 80% offices and 20% warehouse, once the works are completed.
Units at the Park are available on a leasehold basis and range from 465 m² - 1,672 m² (5,000 ft² - 18,000 ft²). The units offer industrial/warehouse space with up to 50% office accommodation in those currently being marketed.
Richard Johnson, surveyor at King Sturge, joint agent on the scheme with WHR, commented: “Metroplex benefits from good access to the M602 and M60 which allows businesses to make the most of the motorway network. It sits directly alongside the Mediacity site, where the BBC will be locating some of its departments. This will offer companies a unique opportunity to gain access to what could be one of the biggest business prospects seen in the North West for some time.”
Ernie Francis, Sodexo’s property director for the UK and Ireland, added: “We undertook an extensive search for additional premises and found that the accommodation on offer at Metroplex best suited our requirements and as we already occupy the adjacent unit on the Park, we felt that it made sense to expand there.”
