Tesco Express to open in Harrogate town centre
14 November 2008
The deal was brokered by the In-Town Retail team at the Leeds office of King Sturge
A new 3,500 ft² Tesco Express is due to open in Harrogate town centre this winter after a deal brokered by the In-Town Retail team at Leeds office.
The new store will be at 8-10 Cambridge Road in what was previously two units occupied by failed music store Music Zone and home furnishings company Ponden Mill.
Tesco has agreed a 15-year-lease on the Cambridge Road premises with King Sturge acting for the owner, Norwich Property Trust, a fund of Aviva Investors.
Surveyor with the Retail team, Richard Padley, said: "The new Harrogate Tesco Express is in a prime location in the town centre on the edge of the main pedestrian area with excellent footfall and will offer shoppers an alternative to the town's existing food stores at Marks & Spencer and Waitrose."
"The new Tesco Express will help to revitalise this part of the town centre with what is becoming an extremely popular format for the retailer giving shoppers access to a supermarket concept which does not involve driving to out-of-town locations."
