Leading supplier to the UK building and construction industry signs up for a 1,301 m² warehouse
Travis Perkins, the UK’s leading supplier to the building trade, has signed up for a 1,301 m² (14,000 ft²) warehouse on Quantum Trade Park. The company has taken a 15 year pre let at the site on Oldham Road in Manchester, paying £140,000 per annum. Planning on the unit has been submitted and the branch is expected to open in September.
Since taking charge of the 1.6 hectare (4 acre) site last year, Quorum Commercial has refurbished 2,787 m² (30,000 ft²) of warehouse accommodation which is available across four buildings from 465 m² (5,000 ft²) upwards. Planning for a further eight trade counter units totalling 2,508 m² (27,000 ft²) has also been submitted and accommodation will be available from 232 m² (2,500 ft²). Subject to approval, terms have been agreed on three of the units which are in solicitors hands.
“This is a great step forward for the site,” said Paul Wardle, director at Quorum Commercial. “To attract a high profile brand such as Travis Perkins is a coup for any developer, so its move to Quantum Trade Park is testament to the quality of accommodation and location of the site.”
Daniel Burn of King Sturge, joint agents on the scheme with Davies Harrison, added: “Quantum Trade Park is in a very prominent roadside location, just two miles from the City Centre, giving Travis Perkins a huge amount of exposure to passing traffic along one of the city’s main arterial routes. The Park’s location provides a unique opportunity for national trade occupiers and roadside users who require access in and around Manchester City Centre and units are available in a variety of sizes making the Park a viable option for any requirement.”
