Birmingham office marches on
On 5th June 2010, six members of the
Birmingham office undertook a 28 mile walk in the Cotswolds in aid of Midlands
based charity St Basil's. The charity provides support, advice and accommodation
for young people aged 16 - 25.
The circular uphill and downhill trek
started at Chipping Campden school taking the group though the undulating
Cotswold region, at its highest point passing Broadway Tower. The weather was
warm and humid, although the sun was dampened most of the day by cloud, which
provided perfect conditions for a long walk through the Cotswolds.
The
team of 6 including Gethin Chislett, Melissa Wase-Rogers, Steven Jaggers, Vicky
Beach, David Evans and Hannah Ward commenced the walk at 7.35 and checked-in at
the finish line at 16.49. They managed to complete the walk in 9 hours, 12
minutes, coming 7th out of the 80 teams that undertook the walk (3rd not
including those that ran!) and beating teams such as Price Waterhouse Cooper,
HFC Bank and Drivers Jonas Deloitte.
The team are now all fully recovered
after having sustained blisters, bruises and lost toenails, however it was worth
it in the end, raising in excess of £600 for the charity.
