Energy performance certificates

From 6 April 2008 these will be required for the construction, sale or leasing of property other than dwellings with a floor area of 10,000 m2; with a timetable that will affect all buildings with floor areas over 2,500 m2 from 1 July 2008; and on all buildings from 1 October 2008.

It is clear that EPCs are a fundamental issue affecting the transaction market; and these need also to be considered in the proactive management of building stock.

Building Consultancy have a team of surveyors who will be trained by the BRE in the Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM) assessment method later in January; who will provide an in house capability comfortably in advance of the implementation timetable.

Through their broad knowledge of building and environmental performance, Building Consultancy are perfectly placed to help with the implementation and management of any issues arising from EPC's including improvements in rating.

Any queries should be directed to James Tinkler or Helen Gough.
