Health, safety & environment

With the ever-growing volume of new legislation, health, safety and environmental (HSE) issues are increasingly impacting on the property world. A growing tendency for litigation necessitates a thorough and robust approach to the process of managing potential risks to our clients' property interests.

The King Sturge HSE Board has primary responsibility for:

  • Preparation and dissemination of suitable policies to the operating departments
  • Ensuring consistent working practices
  • Providing competent support to the operating divisions
  • Co-ordinating training needs
  • Facilitating the sharing of best practice
  • Managing the company's response to legislative changes and evolving case law
  • Monitoring the company's health and safety and environmental performance
  • Monitoring accident and incident reports
  • Co-ordination and recommendations on corporate and social responsibility issues

As part of this process, King Sturge has appointed Alfred McAlpine plc to provide in-house, "competent support" to King Sturge on a corporate basis and specifically to the Asset Management group.

Across the Asset Management group, King Sturge use an innovative IT package known as Track Record to manage HSE obligations for all managed properties. Track Record facilitates the creation of bespoke year planners, enables documentation to be held electronically and has enhanced reporting capabilities for internal control and interface with our clients.

King Sturge is a member of the Property Environment Group (PEG) via Upstream, the pre-eminent strategic sustainability consultancy within the property sector. Through this relationship, we are able to develop strategies for economic, environmental and social responsibility and share intelligence on best practice, communications, benchmarking etc.
