Heritage

King Sturge acts for a wide range of clients and owners in the Heritage sector. It is from this involvement that comes the experience and knowledge necessary to provide the depth and coverage of skills necessary to deal with these specialist properties.

King Sturge has developed a Centre of Excellence for Heritage property advice at Bath, a World Heritage Site in its own right, as well as other centres in the UK offering a wide range of advice on Heritage properties.

The United Kingdom has about 500,000 Listed Buildings within its shores, as well as numerous scheduled ancient monuments, Conservation Areas and a smattering of World Heritage Sites.

This comprises an amazing collection of buildings, artifacts and sites which need to be protected as part of the UK's heritage. They represent what is left of Britain's historic environment and at King Sturge we believe that they play an important part of modern business, social and cultural life.

Heritage buildings are immensely important in teaching people about our past, they can often create character and style to an otherwise nondescript built environment and, with care, they can be put to effective re-use to ensure their long term sustainable future.

At King Sturge we have developed, over a number of years, a knowledge and enthusiasm for dealing with Heritage properties, ranging from Tudor timber framed buildings to Georgian stone built masterpieces, and on to more modern 20th century Listed Buildings, such as London offices and art nouveau cinemas.

We have a team of specialists who deal with Heritage properties throughout the UK, offering a wide range of skills, including:

  • Building Conservation
  • Project Management
  • Town Planning
  • Property Development
  • Valuation
  • Business Rates
  • Sales and Acquisitions

As an international firm we are able to offer a comprehensive approach when dealing with Heritage properties, with expertise and resources available to meet our clients' widest aspirations. As a result of our property experience in a wider commercial sense, we offer advice on value related matters which are often not available from other conservation professionals.

We can 'add value' by looking at the wider perspective and being innovative in our approach to re-use and space utilisation of sensitive Heritage properties.
